HV Inc. offers the most portable, affordable, and easy to use VLF Hipots available. HV Inc offers the largest selection of models in the world, with ratings from 30kV – 200kV with load ratings from 0.4μF – 50μF. Since 1998, HV Inc has been the world's leading source for VLF test equipment.
A VLF Hipot is an AC output tester but with an output frequency of 0.1Hz or lower rather than 50Hz. Although the frequency is very low, it is still an alternating current with polarity reversals every half cycle. At 0.1Hz output, rather than 50Hz, it takes 500 times less current and power to apply an AC voltage to a capacitive load, like a long cable. There is no better way to verify the AC integrity of a cable than to Hipot it with AC voltage. VLF Hipots can also be used as the voltage source for Tan Delta and Partial Discharge diagnostic cable testing.

VLF-34E (New Generation VLF Test Set)
A new generation VLF AC Hipot that uses a solid-state design with microprocessor controls. It meets the requirements of applicable world standards regarding cable testing up to 25kV class Maintenance testing. It is light, compact, rugged and very portable. Its sine wave output is suitable for using optional external PD and TD detection equipment. Using a TD and PD option.
VLF-65E (New Generation VLF Test Set)
The VLF-65E Test Set is the latest addition to the new generation of VLF AC Hipots from HV Inc that uses a dry-type, air cooled, solid state design with microprocessor control. Its test programming, numerous output functions, wireless communications and data retrieval are intuitive and easy to learn, as well as its PC Application software. It is portable, affordable and built for the rigors of field use.
This model, with its 44kVac peak output, is suitable for all testing on 25kV cable and Maintenance tests on 35kV cable. Its high load capacity enables it to test up to approximately 16km of cable (at 0.02Hz), depending upon type. This model includes a charging current and load capacitance meter and a centre zero peak kilovolt output meter.
The VLF-50CMF is the highest power VLF unit offered by HV Inc. It is rated for 5µF at 0.1Hz and can increase its output to 50µF at 0.01Hz, capable of testing up to 80km of 5kV and 25kV cable. It is ideal for very long cable runs, like long feeders, wind farm applications, submarine cables, and others. It is supplied complete with cable reels containing 30m of high voltage and 30m of ground cable.
This model, with its 62kVac peak output, is suitable for all testing cable rated up to 35kV. Its high load capacity enables it to test up to approximately 16km of cable (at 0.02Hz), depending upon type. This model includes an enhanced features package: a charging current and load capacitance meter, test dwell timer and polarity indicating lights.
The VLF-65CMF, 65kV peak output, is a high-powered model designed to test very long cables rated up to 35kV. It offers the completed controls package including cable burn mode. It is supplied complete with cable reels containing 30m of high voltage and 30m of ground cable.
The VLF-90CMF offers 90kVac peak output voltage, suitable for testing cable rated at 45-50kV. It is load rated for 0.55µF at 0.1Hz, capable of testing up to 3km of cable, five times that at 0.02Hz. As an option, it can be supplied with a hand truck.
The VLF-12011CMF provides a 120kVac peak output voltage, suitable for VLF Hipot testing 69kV cable and as a voltage source for Partial Discharge and Tan Delta testing of 115kV cable. In addition to the standard controls described, this mode also contains cable burn mode. It is supplied complete with cable reels containing 30m of high voltage and 30m of ground cable.
The VLF-200CMF provides a 200kVac peak output voltage, suitable for performing VLF Hipot tests on 138kV cable and as a voltage source for Tan Delta and Partial Discharge testing on 230Kv cable. In addition to the standard controls described, this mode also contains cable burn mode. It has a bushing output and can be trailer mounted as an option.
